EXPLORING MY IDENTITY: A SUPPORT GROUP FOR AUTISTIC OLDER TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS AGED 16-18

A safe space for autistic older teens and young adults aged 16-18 to meet like-minded people and share their life experiences. Facilitators will provide an opportunity for participants to deconstruct ableist views and negative stigmatised approaches to thinking around Autism. This is a neuro-affirmative group, that will enable participants to develop a more positive view of their own differences or disabilities. Participants may enjoy developing ideas and strategies for their own self advocacy, to meet their own needs in relationships, training and in the education setting.

This is a neuro-affirmative group, that will enable participants to explore what it means for them to be autistic and help develop a more positive view of their own differences or disabilities. Participants may enjoy developing ideas and strategies for their own self advocacy, to meet their own needs in relationships, in the education setting and when navigating life transitions.
This group also aims to provide a community for older teens and young adults to support and learn from one another, whilst gaining new insights on how to navigate challenges and life experiences as neurodivergent adults. Participants may take this opportunity to build connections and friendships with like minded people, that could support them on their onward journey.
Alongside this young person's support group, parents/family members will be invited to attend a support group at our offices, running at the same time. This is an opportunity for parents and families to share their experiences, ideas, and strategies that have been successful for them in the past. Cost of the support group is included in the overall cost.
This group support programme is a closed group that is ongoing for 6 weeks, in-person, at Insights Clinic. It is not a drop-in group, participants should be committed to attending for the six sessions. In-person participation is encouraged where possible and appropriate. Interested participants and/or parents or caregivers can request to be contacted by the group facilitators for a brief screening in a format that meets their needs.

Testimonials
Parents often seek advice as to which of the Educational Psychology services to use in Dubai. I have no hesitation in recommending Insights Psychology, as providers of a comprehensive and excellent value for money service. The team are professional, thorough and they take the time to build rapport with the child. They always ensure they look at the whole child, ensuring the views of the child and all the adults that work with them, are fully taken in to account and represented. Their written reports are accessible, easily understood and pertinent; the recommendations made are personalised, impactful, but most importantly in a busy classroom...achievable and sustainable! Their psychologists are always willing to feedback their findings in person to all parties, to ensure that recommendations are understood and implemented.

Regarding: Insights Assessment Service
With the strong warm support from the professionals at Insight Psychology, our son found a peace of mind, discovered meaning out of his experiences, and regained his confidence to stand up for himself. Now he is moving forward for his determined future with the passion and motivation that his counsellors fueled in him. Having witnessed our son grow out of his difficulty, we as parents also have been inspired and learned how we could become better version of ourselves. It was simply an honor for having known such dedicated clear-minded professionals.

Regarding: Educational Psychology Assessment and Counselling Services at Insights
Having worked with other centers in the UAE, Insights Psychology was a breath of fresh air. It felt very personalized and responsive. The process and formats were easy to understand and most importantly my child had a positive experience, which is not always possible in an assessment type situation. I was fortunate enough to have worked with Gráinne and would have no hesitation in recommending Insights services. There was no up-sale to buy other tests and Gráinne worked with the school and me (as the parent) to ensure appropriate continued support after diagnosis that were adaptive to my child’s needs and onward journey.

Regarding: Insights Assessment Services
The dedicated and professional services that Insight Psychology provide our school are second to none. They are all highly skilled and professional in their roles supporting us as a school, but more importantly supporting the children and their parents on what can often be a challenging journey. Gráinne and her team are truly wonderful at focusing on the individual child’s potential rather than their challenges and work to support all involved in unlocking that potential.

Regarding: Counselling and Educational Psychology Services
I have two daughters who have been with Cynthia during quarantine time. My older daughter has been diagnosed with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia and possible anxiety and depression. We, however, have been feeling truly supported by Cynthia’s love, care, and dedication and would like to thank you for her presence and hard work. We were suggested not to wait until reopening of the school and are glad that we did not wait. Now she will have two months of summer holidays to get ready for the next academic year with full support from Cynthia.

Regarding: Counselling and Educational Psychology Services
We have completed our psychological education assessment for our son with Cynthia this week. I’d like to say what a positive experience it has been, from the very first phone call. Cynthia was very supportive as to begin with it’s hard to know if your child really does have a problem, so talking to Cynthia who reassured us that the problems we were facing did in actual fact need exploring. It’s certainly helped us understand our child more, and given us and the school a plan moving forward with how to support him with dyslexia and dyscalculia. Our son loved the assessments with Cynthia and really looked forward to visiting her. We feel very lucky we managed to find her and also that all the tests and results were completed in such a quick time frame.
